New Insolvency Legislation due in Ireland

It has been trailed for months and published proposals have been put out for consultation. It seems that at the end of April we may get to see the legislation that the Irish Government hopes to introduce to make changes to the ineffectual and draconian existing legislation on their books.

From what I have read and seen so far I am less than impressed. It seems to me that they know and understand that they need to introduce something to help with debt problems, but that they are almost pathelogically wedded to being unable to do something effective.

The raft of proposals put forward will not help the vast majority of people and will still leave all the complex and mojor decisions in the hands of those owned the money. When was the last time you saw a turkey vote for Christmas.

I forsee a pretty poor bill in April, months of delay before it comes in and then litigation and squabble over what the provisions are or even worse, scant use of them.

Hey ho, even more people off to the UK for their bankruptcies.
